Our Story

RBS traces its roots back to 1984, when founder Brian A. Ricardo established Ricardo Roofing Ltd. in the Greater Toronto Area. In 1993, the company relocated its head office to Eastern Ontario to better serve a growing base of clients. Built on a foundation of quality workmanship, responsive service, and reliable project delivery, the business quickly earned a reputation for solving complex roofing challenges.

As client needs expanded, so did our capabilities. Project requests soon extended beyond roofing alone, and over time the company developed deep expertise across the full building envelope. In 2013, we rebranded as Roof & Building Service Intl. (RBS), formally broadening our scope to serve both roof and building requirements under one banner.

Today, with more than 20,000 projects completed across Ontario, RBS stands as a trusted partner to the industrial, commercial, institutional, and government sectors. Safety & Compliance Commitment

At RBS, safety is not a line item — it’s a culture. Every project we undertake is guided by rigorous safety protocols, continuous training, and a commitment to protecting not only our own people, but also our clients’ staff, operations, and the public.

  • Workplace Safety Standards – All team members are trained and certified to meet or exceed Ontario health and safety legislation, including fall protection, confined space entry, WHMIS, and site-specific orientation requirements. Toolbox talks, hazard assessments, and near-miss reporting are part of our daily rhythm.

  • Compliance in Regulated Environments – Many of our projects are completed in sensitive industrial and institutional settings: CFIA-regulated food facilities, Health Canada-inspected pharmaceutical environments, high-traffic healthcare facilities, and mission-critical distribution centers.   • Insurance & Risk Mitigation – RBS carries full liability coverage, WSIB compliance, and bonding capacity. For large capital projects, we can underwrite wrap-up insurance and bonding programs to give owners and stakeholders additional layers of protection.

  • Fire & Hot Work Controls – When performing torch-applied roofing or hot asphalt work, strict fire watches and permitting systems are enforced. Spark containment, extinguishers, and cooling protocols are mandatory, ensuring risks are controlled from start to finish.

  • Continuous Improvement – Safety is not static. We actively review incidents, update training, and adopt new technologies such as infrared scanning, drone inspections, and leak detection sensors to minimize hazards and prevent failures before they occur.
